About us

Kim is a Golden native who has called Colorado home her entire life. After graduating from CSU, she worked in a residential program with adults with disabilities. She eventually made her way back toward Denver, where she met Cody — an Ohio transplant who moved west for climbing, mountains, and a new adventure. He was working in pharmacy at the time.

They fell in love and spent years exploring together — trying new breweries, hiking, road-tripping to Moab, and somehow almost always getting caught in the rain while camping. Kim was working at a doctor’s office at this point and Cody had switched to working in the craft beer world. Somewhere along the way, they started joking about opening their own taproom. Over time, the jokes turned into real conversations. Then, on one magical trip to Costa Rica, they finally decided to go for it. Since then, they’ve worked endlessly to turn Bivy Beer Bar into a reality.

When they’re not at Bivy, Kim is usually obsessing over their cat, Linus, taking long strolls with their dog, Milo, reading trashy romance novels, or eating Sour Skittles. Cody is most likely trying to get a climb in at the gym, sipping mezcal, brainstorming the next highpoint trip, or watching a romcom he’ll pretend wasn’t his idea. Together, they share a deep love for road trips, finding new places to explore, tacos, pizza, and football. Somehow, their relationship has survived despite Kim being a Broncos fan and Cody cheering for the Bills. From the beginning, they knew Golden was the perfect place for Bivy — a welcoming spot with great beer, tasty agave pours, delicious food, and a relaxed atmosphere where locals, adventurers, and anyone looking for a good hang can feel at home.
